OSRAM has introduced a new range of light sensors. HIGH BAY, DUO, OUTDOOR and VISION are highly efficient sensors that have been designed to ensure that light is only used when necessary. This not only conserves energy, but also leads to lower overhead costs. Used as part of a Light Management System (LMS), these sensors can significantly reduce the energy consumed by lighting within a building.

HIGH BAY provides simple light control for areas with high ceilings making it ideal for industrial areas and warehouses. Featuring motion detection, this product stands out from the competition thanks to its ability to work at heights of up to 13m. HIGH BAY also reduces overhead costs as it is maintenance-free, has low installation costs due to mounting on the ceiling, and low power consumption of 0.8W during operation.

OSRAM’s DUO is ideal for offices, residential properties, and retail premises thanks to its dual functionality. It can operate as a daylight sensor by supplementing the amount of natural daylight entering a room, or as a combination daylight and presence detection unit. It can be mounted directly onto a ceiling or integrated into a luminaire via a T5/T8 lamp clip. All functions of this sensor are adjustable thanks to a rotary control on the front.

VISION provides motion detection for large areas and long corridors using PIR technology. It can be installed up to 4.5m and detect movement up to 21m away. This sensor features adjustable time delay which benefits from 1 button operation. This product is ideal for office, residential, hospitality and retail applications.

OUTDOOR from OSRAM provides presence and daylight detection for exterior applications. It has a detection area of up to 16m, a twilight sensor that operates from 1 lux, an adjustable delay time, and 2 button operation to select the different sensor modes. OUTDOOR is maintenance free and features low installation costs due to on-wall/on-ceiling mounting. The product is IP55 classified so can be used externally.

Jason Hicklin, OEM/DO Channel Marketing Manager at OSRAM, says, “Light management systems still hold a relatively niche place in the lighting market. In Europe, around 97% of commercial installations still feature a manual on/off switch. This means that there is huge scope for businesses and the public sector to reduce costs by installing a light management system using one of OSRAM’s new highly efficient sensors.”
